Getting Started

If you run LifeTopix on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, then you can use AirAccess to interact, wirelessly from your Mac, with LifeTopix running on your iOS device.

To do so, follow these simple steps:

  1. From your iOS device, verify that you are running at least version 3.0 of LifeTopix by doing the following:

o From the LifeTopix home view, tap LifeTopix Settings, then tap About.

  1. From your Mac, download LifeTopix AirAccess from the Mac App Store and install it on your Mac

 Apple Mac App Store

  1. On your iOS device, do all of the following:

o Tap the device’s home button, then tap Settings, enable Wi-Fi, and connect the device to a Wi-Fi network

o From LifeTopix, tap LifeTopix Settings, then tap My Settings and ensure that the Enable AirAccess option is set to ON

That’s it! Now you are all set to run AirAccess on your Mac, and use it to connect to LifeTopix running on your iOS device. Refer to the AirAccess product documentation for more information.

Note: The Region Format and the Time Zone settings for your Mac and your iOS device must match. Otherwise, unexpected behavior could result.

I’ve started using your application again and am impressed with the improvements that you’ve made to the application. Given the significant changes, although a bit overwhelming, it is a pleasure to use. Two things would make it a knockout application are in priority: a desktop version to enable faster data entry; improved performance (it’s a bit slow on an iPad 2 and iPhone 4). Finally, and for your benefit, do some more product promotion as your app deserves to be used by everyone with an IOS device!!

Keep up the good work and I’m certain that your business will continue to grow.

      Hi Jim,

Thank you for the kind words. Comments like this really motivate us.

Currently we have a desktop app for the Mac called LifeTopix AirAccess (available on the Mac App Store for free) which allows you to managed LifeTopix information on your phone.
We are working on a Windows version targeted for later this summer, and plan to support full desktop and Android versions as well.

We apologize for the slow performance on the iPad2 & iPhone 4. We have made performance improvements over the last few updates and are continuing to work on improving performance for our next update as well.

We sincerely appreciate feedback from our engaged customer like yourself. Please feel free to reach out to us with any issues you might encounter and with any suggestions you may have.

      Best Regards,

    Team Light Arrow,
I’ve been using / learning Lifetopix IOS and AirAccess for about 1 month now. Your responsiveness and helpfulness with my questions has been absolutely great; thank you. I’ve upgraded to LifeTopix
5.0 and it really is a nice improvement. The availability of a Mac desktop client is a pre-requisite for me to even consider employing a productivity app and I truly appreciate the existence and concept behind AirAccess. As LightArrow states on your own web site, “The era of mobile computing is upon us. But great strides in the power of portable devices have not been matched by interface advances that allow users to take full advantage of these gains. In fact, as devices become smaller and more mobile, the ability to enter and manipulate information on those devices becomes an even greater challenge. This threatins to undermine the very usefullness of these marvelous little bundles of portability.” The mere fact that a productivity app developer like LightArrow realizes the importance of this concept is epiphanic. LightArrow describes AirAccess as “a powerful and efficient desktop client that allows you to connect, wirelessly, from your Mac to LifeTopix running on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.” This is definitely an overstatement of the capabilities of AirAccess which pales in comparison to it’s IOS stablemate. If only it were a desktop replica of the IOS app, LifeTopix would be a rockstar in the world of productivity. Please do all of the organization seeking pilgrims of the world a favor and develop the AirAccess desktop to be on par with the IOS app. Thank you.

      Hi Stephen,
We very much appreciate your vere eloquent thoughts on this, and agree very much. We’ve initially focussed on the iOS platform primarily to get LifeTopix to a point in terms of both completeness as well as a usability. Our approach was to focus on the primary platform until that point before doing significant work on other platforms, namely Mac, Windows and Android.
Post 5.0, we are able to start making more progress, and hope to give a more clear idea to our users in terms of timeframes for the other platforms. We are not a very big company, but we intend to do very big things for our users.
      Best regards,
      Team LightArrow

Since my September 20th comment LightArrow has made continuous and some beautiful improvements to the IOS version of LifeTopix, bringing us, your faithful followers, to v5.1; for this I commend you fervently. Now that the IOS app has matured so nicely, isn’t it time to give Air Access some of your developers attention? A maxi desktop equivalent of the iPad LifeTopix app would blow the lid off the world of productivity apps. You would also be following through on part of your vision that states: “The era of mobile computing is upon us. But great strides in the power of portable devices have not been matched by interface advances that allow users to take full advantage of these gains. In fact, as devices become smaller and more mobile, the ability to enter and manipulate information on those devices becomes an even greater challenge. This threatins to undermine the very usefullness of these marvelous little bundles of portability.” LightArrow, stop teasing and Do It! ~Stephen Berkeley

          Hi Stephen,
Thank you for reaching out with your kind words. We agree with you on the need to quickly make progress on a more complete AirAccess. Post 5.1 we’ve been able to give more effort to progress on that, and also on support for other platforms.
          Best regards,

Will Air Access sync work if Cloud sync is enabled? I installed Air Access and have not been able to get it to work and all the settings are correct.

      Hello Royce,

There is nothing about the way iCloud Sync works that would prevent AirAccess from working.

You mention that “all the settings are correct”. We just want to confirm that by that you mean that when you configured AirAccess, you followed all of the instructions here. If that is not the case, please let us know.

Also, are you running Lion on your Mac, or Snow Leopard? If you are running Lion, we would like to ask you to check your firewall settings by doing the following:

      — Click the Apple in the upper left of your desktop and select System Preferences…
      — Under the Personal section, click the entry titled Security & Privacy
      — In the Security & Privacy window, click the Firewall tab
      — Click the padlock icon in the lower left to be able to make changes — this will prompt you for your system password
      — After the padlock is open, click on the button labeled Advanced…

Once you have done this, you should be viewing the Advanced panel. Is the button for “Block all incoming connections” checked?

If the button is checked, then you’ll need to make sure that LifeTopix AirAccess (typically installed under Applications) is added to the list in that view.

If none of the above are an issue, then we have learned from the Apple developer forums that some wireless routers block Bonjour by default. If you could let us know the brand and model number of your wireless router, we can determine if yours is one of the routers that does this.

Please feel free to follow-up with us via our support email address for or via the contact form on our web site for follow-up questions or issues.

      Best regards,
      Team LightArrow.
