Q. How can I give LifeTopix access to Contacts, Calendars and Reminders after initially not allowing it?

You can go to the device Settings app, go to Privacy, and in the Contacts and Calendars sections, set LifeTopix to On in each one. That allows LifeTopix to include your device calendars and contacts information for various items and views. Starting with 5.1, LifeTopix also allows for utilizing and integrating with the device Reminders app.

Hi. I have gone through the questions and answers. Looked at everything I could, checked everything and it loos like I have all the settings correct. However, none of my contacts or calendars (which are given access through iPad Settings) are showing up. No photos videos calendars.… Nada. I’ve given access on the iPad, set the calendars up through Calendars on iPad, checked off on My.Agenda the calendars, given access…

    I must be missing something.

      Hi Kari,

      Thanks for reaching out!

LifeTopix and our other relevant apps integrate with both your device Contacts app and Calendar app seamlessly, as follows.

Contacts are utilized as needed. For example, if you create a person in LifeTopix, and wish to associate their contacts info, the app allows you to pick the contact you want. Similarly, you can select a Task Owner as a person from your contacts, and a person object is automatically created in the app. We do not duplicate the contact info into the app as it’s already in your Contacts app. We are making enhancements to the People + Services topic to add a lot more custom info for people.

All your device calendar items are automatically included to be shown in the My Calendar and Agenda views, as well as in the Events topic views. You can use the filter in those views to exclude certain device calendars if you wish. Also, in LifeTopix, under Settings -> My Settings, you can select which device calendar you wish LifeTopix to write to (create shadow items for things like tasks, trips, etc,) — you can configure reminder behavior by type in the My Settings view. Additionally, you can directly add device reminder items from LifeTopix using the Quick Add option from the Quick Menu on the bottom left of dashboard views as well as other views, such as My Calendar, Agenda, etc.

Photos, videos are similar — then only show up in the picker when you try to associate a photo from the device into a trip, or a project, etc.

We’ll gladly do a phone call with you to walk through some high level features, as well as cover any other issues. If you wish to do that, please email us at support @ lightarrow . com (without the spaces).

      Best regards,

I have turned on access to life topix under my device settings for contacts but I still cannot access my contacts in life topix. What should I do?

      Hi Dilek,
Thanks for reaching out. We’ll work with you to figure this out.
Just to be sure, have you enabled access to LifeTopix for Contacts under the Privacy -> Contacts section of device Settings? And if you don’t mind, after that is enabled, please restart LifeTopix after first shutting it. The way to do that is close LifeTopix, then double-press the device home button to see all the running apps in the bottom row, then tap and hold on LifeTopix icon and tap on the (x) to fully shut it down. Another way would be to reboot the device, and then restarting LifeTopix.

I have added a new calendar on google but it does not appear on my list of calendar selections. It shows calendars I have deleted and want to use the new one I created. Please advise.

      Hi Georgia,

Thank you for reaching out to us with your question.

LifeTopix uses the calendars you have included in your device Calendar app. Have you included your new Google calendar in your device Calendar app?

I am a new My.Agenda purchaser/user and after some initial new user issues am beginning to think about thinks to do with the tool. I have all of my contacts in an app called ContactsXL. What do I need to do to get them transferred/downloaded into My.Agenda.

      Hi Joe,

Thank you for reaching out to us with your question.

My.Agenda accesses the iOS device’s Contacts app to obtain contact information (assuming access of the device’s contacts has been granted to My.Agenda). So if you are able to export the contacts from ContactsXL to your device’s contacts list then My.Agenda will be able to access them.

I currently have my Iphone calendar, contacts, etc., synced to my work via Outlook. Can I have my work calendar as a separate calendar in LifeTopix? I would like to maintain a separate personal calendar without meshing all of this together. I don’t necessarily want personal items appearing in my work calendar.

    Thanks

      Hi Randal,

Thank you for reaching out to us with your question.

Currently LifeTopix date views use filters that allow the user to select which calendars to include. An approach to keeping your personal and work calendars separate would be to go into the filter settings and select only your personal calendar for inclusion and deselect your work calendar when you only want to see you personal items. When you want to see only you work items you can simply select your work calendar for inclusion and deselect your personal calendar.

One thing to keep in mind is that LifeTopix uses the default calendar specified in “My Settings” –> “Default Device Calendar”. So if you wish to have LifeTopix create items in your personal calendar then the default calendar setting must be set to your personal calendar and if you want items created in your work calendar then you must set the it to your work calendar every time you you want to switch between personal and work contexts.

If you have any other questions please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

I have set up a dropbox sync with my ipad and iphone everything works except that making changes on the iphone doesnt update the dropbox sync account and is not reflected on the ipad; it works from ipad to iphone almost simultaneously I have tried a sync reset but no luck — any advice would be welcome

      Hi Ian,
Thanks for reaching out! When you make a change on the phone (like add a task), you’ll see a green rotating sync indicator on the top left of the dashboard views. Please wait for that to be done before closing LifeTopix on the iPhone — that gives a chance for the changes to be uploaded to Dropbox (then it’s available on the other devices). That process does not work when the app is closed (in the background).
Please let us know if that works. If not, we’ll work with you to resolve the issue.
      Best,
      Team LightArrow

Thanks for the prompt reply — i was aware that the green rotating indicator was when the device was syncing and indeed it happens, the app is running and is in the foreground but still no syncing when i make changes or additions on the iphone.

This also led me to think if i make a change say to a task description on the iphone and save it we will have 3 instances of that task over the 3 devices, i.e. one new one on the iphone an old one on the cloud and an old one on the primary device the ipad — which sync gets priority?

        Regards

        Ian

          Hi Ian,

Thanks for getting back to us with the info. We can follow up with you over a phone call to get this resolved. Please email us at support (@) lightarrow (dot) com and suggest some times that work for you on Thursday and Friday. It’ll take about 15–20 minutes, and you should have both devices (and internet connectivity from both) available to you at the time of the call.

Regarding your other question — the change that gets priority is the most recent one (we tag changes with UTC time code down to the millisecond). So the phone change will apply to the task ont he iPad (change file transfered via Dropbox within devices) — once we get it working properly for you, of course. For now, please try to make most of your changes on the iPad if possible.

          Best,
          Team LightArrow

I do not see Privacy in the Settings app. I feel certain that it is there and that I’ve seen it before, but I’m not seeing it now. This is on an iPad1 v5.1.1.

      Hi David,

Thanks for reaching out to us. In iOS 6.0 you can go to the iOS settings –> Privacy. From here tapping any of the items such as Location Services, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, etc. allows you to grant access to LifeTopix.

      Best regards,

    Hi there,
I am trying set up access for Lifetopix to access my contacts. I see the answer above but I am still having issues. I believe to access settings the gear type icon must be pressed. Once done I do not see any section titled privacy nor contacts and settings. I tried preferences but that is not where I need to be. Please advise.
    Thanks
    Julie

      Hi Julie,
Our apologies for not being clear — you need to use the device’s Settings app to re-enable access to Contacts, not the Settings view of LifeTopix. If you open the Settings app on your device, then go to Privacy, you can go into Contacts, and turn it ON for LifeTopix. You can do the same for Calendars, Reminders, Location Services, etc. as you wish. This is the standard way for enabling or disabling access for apps on Apple devices.
      Best regards,
      Team LightArrow
