Quick Inbox

This view allows you to cap­ture any type of infor­ma­tion quickly so that you can pro­vide more detailed infor­ma­tion later as time per­mits. Being able to record your ideas eas­ily in a reli­able sys­tem for later analy­sis rep­re­sents the Col­lec­tion phase of the Get­ting Things Done® (GTD®) method­ol­ogy devel­oped by David Allen.

Tap  to bring up the Quick Inbox new entry box. Pro­vide some text in the Item field, then tap Act by to pro­vide optional date infor­ma­tion. If Act by is set, that date and time will be dis­played in this item’s sum­mary along with the words “Act by.” Tap Soon or Some­day to indi­cate whether the new item should be added to the Soon list or to the Some­day list, then tap Save to save the item.

Tap Preferences button in the header for this pane to reorder or delete items in the Soon and Some­day lists.

When you are ready to add addi­tional infor­ma­tion to an item in the Quick Inbox, tap , then select an item type for con­ver­sion from the result­ing action panel. Spec­ify the item’s details, then tap Save. Once you spec­ify addi­tional details for an item in the Quick Inbox, its icon will change to the cor­re­spond­ing item type; until then, its icon will be .

    Just a minor thing, but I feel like the item should be moved from the inbox once it’s con­verted. Hav­ing to delete it seems odd.

      We agree with that view­point — some users want it hang­ing around, and some want it auto­mat­i­cally gone. We’ll make it a sys­tem level con­fig­u­ra­tion so that each side is happy!

    How do I launch my email account from this app? I have a work account exchange and a per­sonal yahoo account and I would like to view this info within this app

      Thank you for reach­ing out to us!
      Cur­rently we sup­port the abil­ity to send emails eas­ily from inside the app. In the future (most likely in the next month or two), we plan to add the abil­ity to con­sume items from your email from inside the app, includ­ing the abil­ity to con­vert emails into trips, projects, notes, etc. and asso­ciate them with items inside Life­Topix.

    How do I move items out of my inbox? I have con­verted items to a task, com­pleted the task and yet the items remain in the inbox.

      Hi Joan,
      Thanks for reach­ing out with the ques­tion. In the Inbox view, you can swipe on an item to remove it when you’re done with it.
