Shopping

This topic is included in LifeTopix and is available as an in-app-purchase in My.Agenda.

Some people like to shop, some people dread nothing more. No matter how you feel about it, you’ll love the Shopping topic. It is more than just the easiest way to manage your grocery and other household shopping lists. It helps you organize the information for the products you’re researching for possible future purchase, the stores you frequent, and the things you buy most often. It can even track the gifts you buy for other people, the gifts you have received from other people, your coupons, and the donations you have made to charitable organizations. And through the power of integration, your shopping information is available across topics. For example, the items you need to buy for any events you are planning in the Events topic automatically show up in your Shopping lists. The result is much better organized views of everything you buy, need to buy, or had bought for you, and where you shop.

Be a more efficient and effective shopper with the Shopping topic.

Well, You talk about the ability to use the lightning add to add a new product. Yes, I write the product name, the list is filtered accordingly, but I can’t find the add button you talk about.

      Hi Fernand,
Once you write the product name and the list is filtered, please tap on the item you want from the filtered list, and then tap on the Add button (left of the Close button) right next to where you type.

Is there a way to add a product directly to a shopping list without having to go to the “select product” list? There are times when items I am shopping for are “one-time” items, ex. blue Christmas lights, extra magazine for m&p 45, etc.. I don’t necessarily need to add these items to the product list because I will likely never use them again. Also, it would be more convenient to be able to add or select products from the Product field on the Shopping Item screen instead of having to go to a different “Select Product” screen. Maybe when I start typing in a product, a drop down list appears with the current products. If the item I am entering is on the product list, I could select it. If the item is not on the current product list, it could be added at that point. The current setup (product/search for product/“create new” if product is not on the list) is a bit cumbersome if I have several products to add that are not currently on the product list.

      Hi Phil,
Thanks for reaching out. We have added what you have asked for in our latest 5.1.1 update (available as of last week). In a shopping list, or in the All Shopping Items view, you can tap on lightning add (lightning icon next to + icon), which brings up a product search field. As you start typing, the results list is updated in real-time. If you see the product you are looking for, you can tap on it and then tap on Add. If you don’t see the product after you typed it in (let’s say Hot Chocolate), you can tap Add, in which case both the product gets created behind the scenes, and the shopping item gets added to your list. You can optionally tap on the shopping item afterwards to add more data if you wish, such as quantity, price, seller, etc. We have in fact made it very simple to add shopping items with this lightning-add option.
      We hope this helps.
      Best regards,

Under the “Shopping” screen, I’d like to be able to re-order the items listed there. For example, I’m never going to track gifts given to me, and I don’t anticipate traking things to sell, but I want to configure products all the time. I have to scroll down to configure products, and would prefer having it 3rd on my list, not near the bottom. If there’s a way to do this, I’d love to hear how. Thanks!

      Hi Kate,
That is a great point. It’s not possible right now, but we do plan to make the top level topic views (including Shopping) configurable in the future.

Hey guys, recently I’ve been using Shopping Lists more often, and I was dreaming of an enhancement that would be cool.

Right now you have totals (Total Items/All; Unbought/Open; and Bought)  spread out using buttons. What I think would be convenient is if you also have all three totals on the main category or seller page. This would just be another way of see information, you wouldn’t have to get rid of the other way because it is useful.

    For example:
Under Sellers for my Graphic Novels shopping list I have Amazon & ComiXology, but instead of having to hit any other buttons, I would like to see three totals: Bought, Unbought/Open and Total Items/All.

Bringing this information to the main page can be very useful for really time comparisons that are more difficult when switching pages. I would love to see the numbers change as I check and uncheck to see what I could get and compare with other sellers on the page to get the best deal, etc.

    Just an idea.

      Hi James,
Thanks so much for taking the time to share this idea with us! We should be able to do this in a straightforward way in an update in the near future, most likely in 5.1 (we are almost done with 5.0, which ships later this month).
      Best regards,

Is there a way to arrange a shopping list in the order of store location? I’ve setup separate lists for each store but I don’t see any way to sort the items on a store’s list. Is there a better way?

      Hi,

We have heard this from a couple of users. We agree that it would be a useful enhancement to the shopping topic so we have added it to our product plan.

We hope to be able to get this in to our next release (4.2).

      Best regards,
      Team LightArrow.

Are there shopping templates to choose from or choices of common items say from a grocery store to select? Or do you make all lists from scratch? Will this sync with google calendar, iCal, and outlook? If so how do I sync these calendars w this program? Thanks.

      Hi Dimpy,
Thanks for your question! LifeTopix has several pre-created products in shopping, representing popular grocery and household items. Of course you can add more, as well as edit or delete any product. You can also add stores as well as shopping item units to the pre-created lists for those.
Regarding your second question, LifeTopix creates entries in the device calendar for date-relevant things such as tasks, projects, trips, etc. We leave it up to the user to sync their device calendar with iCal or Outlook using iTunes, or using MobileMe (for sync with iCal). Regardless of what they use, the events created by LifeTopix also get synced (as they are like created like normal calendar entries on the device by LifeTopix).
      Best regards,
      Team LightArrow
