Modern Dashboard Overview
LightArrow’s new “Modern Dashboard” has been designed to present important information in a natural and easy to use way. The modern dashboard is comprised of “Dashboard Cards” that present information relevant to the topic of the card.
The cards on iOS can be reordered by tapping on the LightArrow icon on the bottom right and choosing “Configure Dashboard”.
There are 13 cards on iOS only. On the Mac some views are not available as dashboard cards but are available as main views instead.
Here are the 13 iOS dashboard cards:
- Help Center
- Digital Content
- Assets, Finances & Shopping
Most dashboard cards support a “Narrow” and “Card” mode. The “Narrow” mode presents the dashboard card with only the card icon and title displayed in a narrow format. Tapping anywhere on the dashboard card when in the “Narrow” mode will result in the card transitioning to the “Card”mode.
To return to the “Narrow” mode from the “Card” mode simply tap on the narrow mode icon.
Once in the “Primary Topic View” mode, to return to the “Card” mode simply tap on the up arrow icon show below.
Some cards, such as the Help Center card, support a fully “Expanded” mode of the card. To transition a card to this mode simply tap on the expansion icon located at the top center of the card. The “Expanded” mode of a card will display a full version of the view including all the items as well as controls for managing the items.
Some cards may show only one section while others may show three sections.
Cards that have three sections have a “Pinned”, “Alerts/Recent” & “Topic” section.
You can add items to the “Pinned” section of a card by tapping on the pin icon located at the top right of the card. Tapping on the pin icon will present the user with a menu listing out the types of items that can be pinned. Pinned items in a card will display a star at the bottom left of icon.
You can remove a pinned item from the “Pinned” section of a dashboard card by simply tapping on the item (or long pressing the item depending on the “Toggle” setting found in the “Preferences” view) which presents a list of options that the item supports. Tapping on the “Pins” icon will display the list of cards the item can be pinned to. Deselect the card you wish to remove the item from and tap “Save”.
The Modern Dashboard has a toolbar at the bottom of the screen with provides easy access to many common actions. The dashboard toolbar supports the following actions:
Tapping on the “Quick Actions” button presents the user with the 12 Topics as well as access to other actions such as access to the Settings view or showing the About prompt.
Finally, anytime you need help with the modern dashboard, want to see help tips for the dashboard, view intro slides for the app, or want to use the “Configure for Me” wizard, simply tap on the dashboard help button located at the top right of the Help Center card.
